Metropolitan Emerging Warrior Program
The Western Australian Cricket Association’s Coaching staff in conjunction with junior district club coaches will form specialist squad/s for talented WACA junior district cricketers at the Under 14 - 16 level that will contain the most talented players available at the time of squad formation. This process will give Western Australia its greatest chance of selecting the best representative youth cricketer’s at all levels.

PROGRAM OUTLINE

STAGE 1 (April-May)

• Select between 12-24 players within each zone for the under 14,15 and 16 levels to participate in the program.
• Zone Cricket Officer will select players in consultation with District Cricket Clubs.
• Players and District Clubs will be notified of selections and given a copy of the program and pathway.
• Players will be divided into specialist squads.

STAGE 2 (July-September)
July School Holidays Two training sessions for each squad.

• Focus on individual skill development.
• Specialist coaches will be assisting. August Two sessions for each squad.
• Focus on advancing skill development and skill acquisition.
• Specialist coaches will be assisting.

STAGE 3 (October)
October School Holidays Game sense training for the whole squad within each age group.

• The focus during these games will be implementing match strategies and game awareness.
• Late November / early December - Zone Carnival Teams Selected.
• The Zone Cricket Officer will select teams for the Zone Carnivals after consultation with District Club Coaches.
• Players will be selected subject to the Western Australian Cricket Association Youth Selection Policy.
• Players will be notified about selection or non-selection. Those who are selected will receive information in regards to the final session and Zone Carnival.

STAGE 4 (December-January 2007)

• December - Final session for Under 15 Team in preparation for Zone Carnival
• December - SUNSMART UNDER 15 TOM MOODY ZONE CARNIVAL
• January - Final session for Under 16 Team in preparation for State Carnival
• January - SUNSMART UNDER 16 WAYNE CLARK STATE CARNIVAL
• January - Final session for Under 14 Team in preparation for State Carnival
• January - SUNSMART UNDER 14 TERRY ALDERMAN ZONE CARNIVAL

STAGE 5 (February)

• Match reports and statistics for each carnival will be distributed to District Clubs.
• Zone Cricket Officers will review State/Zone Carnivals.
• Internal player reports will be written for all players who participated in the Emerging Warriors Program.

NOTE:

• The Under 14 Zone Carnival will assist in the selection of the Under 14 'Capture the Warrior' Squad
• The Under 15 Zone carnival will assist in the selection of the WA Under 15 Schoolboys Team.
• From the Under 16 State Carnival / District and Country performances a preliminary squad for the Under 17 State team will be announced.
