What can a WACA Community Cricket Officer do for your school?

Western Australian Schools are the main focus area of the WACA Community Cricket Officers (CCO’s) in their effort in achieving their goal of increasing participation in junior cricket in WA. As a result we offer a range of services to schools free of charge.

School Cricket Clinics

  • The cricket clinics are run in the schools with the aim of promoting interest and developing skills amongst the children.
  • Male and female students participate in an introductory cricket lesson of approximately 45 minutes, conducted by the WACA CCO’s, consisting of skill sessions and modified games. The teachers are given additional material to continue the cricket program in the weeks following the visit by the CCO. All teachers are involved in the delivery of the program.
  • These cricket clinics are a forerunner to Cricket Carnivals which involve schools from the surrounding areas.

Cricket Carnivals

  • On completion of the cricket program within the schools the CCO will organise a lightening carnival of modified games involving a group of schools in close proximity to each other.
  • The games will be in Super 8’s format with boys and girls participating.
  • Teachers actively participate, being involved in scoring and umpiring.
