The SunSmart
Women’s Grade competition is the premier
club competition for females in WA with past, present
and future Western Fury members out on the park
representing their clubs.
The competition hosts 2 grades and has been running
since 1930. In 2007-08 the WACA welcomes 2 new
clubs into the competition, Rockingham–Mandurah
CC and Whitfords SCC.
The season begins on 7th October 2007. All games
are one-dayers, with the 2-day competition retired
at the end of season 2004-05.
Twenty20 games were trialled during 2006/07, with
the decision made to formalise the competition
in 2007/08. This season all 8 member clubs
will battle to hold the inaugural Twenty20 Cup!
January 2008 is packed with representative cricket,
the Western Fury have 6 games over an 8 day period,
while the Under 19 & Under 17 WA teams will
be interstate competing in the National Championships.
For the first time the WACA will be calling for
female teams to register for the 6-a-side Exhibition
Carnival on 27th January, as a great social way
to kick off the New Year. The matches are
fast paced and full of fun, with only 5 overs per
innings, everyone except the keeper must bowl an
over and an Award for the most sixes hit will be
presented. |
