Held in late November each year the Cricket Australia
Women’s Cup, commonly referred to as 2nd Xl is
a 10day championship that prepares players and teams
to progress and be successful at WNCL level.
2008-09 was the first time the WACA entered a team into
the CAW Cup competition. The WA team performed well in
the championships, eventually taking out third place
behind NSW & Victoria.
A great first up effort for WA, but the challenge
is on for WA to lift and chase down NSW & VIC.
Some highlights from the tournament included:
- Amanda Williams named Player of the Championships.
- Emily Rixon awarded leading run scorer for the Championships
The 2008-09 WA CAW Cup Player of the year went
to:
- In third place with 170 points, Kate Burns
- In second
place on 213 points; Emily Rixon
- In first place on 306
points, congratulations - AMANDA WILLIAMS.
