As the peak cricketing body in the State, the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) is charged with managing: elite Men's and Women's representative teams; a world-class cricket facility in the WACA Groundand; the promotion of participation in cricket at all levels in the Western Australian community.
This newly created role reporting to the CEO, has been established to formulate and drive strategic initiatives of Cricket Operations through umpiring, state representative squads, district cricket, talent management and education with measures of success gauged through all levels of elite cricket. You will also be ensuring appropriate systems and processes are in place to guarantee performance indicators are met.
In this position you will be responsible for developing a facilities master plan to identify alternate cricket and training grounds. You will be actively sourcing grants to compliment our programs and constantly researching best national and international cricket practices. The effective management of relationships with key stakeholders is paramount as you will act as the official WACA liaison with a variety of committees and associations.
Administratively you will be managing the day to day logistical operations of the Retravision Warriors, Western Fury and state representative teams. Previous experience in leading and managing people is vital with nine direct reports and you will have superior financial acumen controlling the department budget.
It is essential that you have an established understanding of cricket at a national level and preferably having played or coached. This role will suit a strong results originated person with proven ability to plan strategically and deliver results. In particular you have demonstrated ability to oversee and formulate elite athlete programs.
Ideally you will have commercial business and financial management experience combined with well honed interpersonal, negotiation and management skills.

Strategy
- Formulate and drive the strategic direction for elite cricket (male and female) within the state not limited to the strategic direction for player pathways including district cricket, umpiring and coach education.
- Drive, innovate and manage the Cricket Operations department in the achievement of measureable targets as outlined in the WACA Strategic Plan 2008-2011.
- Design and formulate the future direction of district cricket by developing a suitable model that will address competition formats, scheduling, coaching resources, population growth, location and number of clubs.
- Once approved, implement district cricket model through established key external stakeholders.
- Develop a strategic facilities master plan in conjunction with the Facilities Sub Committee, leading consultants to integrate an alternate ground, outdoor practice facilities and indoor academy facilities for elite teams.
- Work with consultants to identify viable commercial opportunities for the facilities master plan.
- Assist in the development, tailoring and rollout of Cricket Australia's state high performance initiatives.
- Seek and research national and international best cricket practises for WACA implementation.
- Work collaboratively with the Centre of Excellence creating opportunities for WACA programs.
Elite Teams
- Manage the day to day logistical operations of the Warriors, Fury and underage teams.
- Research and develop the future direction of Twenty20 cricket in WA at district and community level.
- Coordinate with the High Performance Cricket Committee, the election of the State Match Committee members.
- Oversee talent identification in conjunction with the Talent Manager, developing a tailored pathway for identified players.
- Develop a timely state contracting procedure and in conjunction with the Chief Executive Officer implement and assist with the negotiation process.
- In conjunction with Head Coaches, develop and evaluate effectiveness of off-season Warrior, Fury and underage programs.
- In conjunction with the Player Development Manager, oversee the Career & Welfare program for all representative teams.
- Implement and manage mentoring and leadership programs for all members of elite squads.
- In conjunction with the Commercial Department manage the marketing of elite teams including player appearances and apparel.
General
- Develop and continually review the succession plan for the department.
- Undertake bi-annual Work Performance Reviews of direct reports. Use reviews to identify training requirements and set development plans.
- Oversee all workflows and undertake performance management including disciplinary action.
- Manage the sourcing, recruitment and appointment of support staff including coaches, specialist coaches, strength and conditioning, physiotherapists for male and female squads.
- Actively research and source grants that will assist in the achievement of the WACA Strategic Plan.
- Be the direct liaison with Department of Sport and Recreation in the development of their high performance programs to identify synergies with the WACA.
- Ensure appropriate systems, administrative support structures and processes are in place to sustain the success of all elite teams.
- Manage the implementation of the WADCCI and the High Performance Cricket Committee committee's charters, through attendance at meetings and acting as the official WACA liaison.
- Act as the official WACA liaison for the Australian Cricketers Association.
- Prepare and manage the departmental budgets.
- Prepare monthly Cricket Operations Report to the Chief Executive Officer for presentation to the Board.
- Liaise with the Business Operations Department with match day cricket related operations.
- Liaise with the Turf Department for scheduling of Ground and practice wicket usage.
- § Undertake other associated duties and projects consistence with the responsibilities of the position.
Essential
