Perth to Open Test Summer Against India

Western Australia is set for a jam-packed international schedule next summer, with Australia’s Men’s and Women’s team to host India and Pakistan across both red-ball and white-ball formats in 2024-25.

Cricket Australia today confirmed the international cricket schedule for the upcoming season, with WA to host three fixtures across two venues:

  • 10 November 2024: Dettol Men’s ODI, Australia v Pakistan, Perth Stadium (D/N)
  • 22-26 November 2024: First NRMA Insurance Men’s Test, Australia v India, Perth Stadium
  • 11 December 2024: CommBank Women’s ODI, Australia v India, WACA Ground (D/N)

The first Test match of the summer will be the fifth time Test cricket is played at Perth Stadium, with India fixtured for their second red-ball fixture at the venue, after playing in the first ever Test Match at the 60,000-seat stadium in December 2018.

Perth will also welcome back the Australian Women’s National Team for a second consecutive summer, with the WACA Ground to play host to its first Women’s international 50-over contest since February 2019.

The fixture will also represent India’s first ever ODI at the WACA Ground, having only previously played a T20I at the venue during the 2020 ICC T20 World Cup.

Australia’s Men’s Team will visit Perth multiple times during the month of November, welcoming white-ball powerhouse Pakistan for an ODI on November 10, before returning later in the month to begin their five-test series against India.

Schedules for the KFC BBL|14 and Weber WBBL|10 seasons, plus domestic competitions, will be confirmed in coming months.

WA Cricket Chief Executive Officer, Christina Matthews, said:

“Western Australians will be delighted with today’s schedule announcement, with seven days of international cricket to take place in Perth against top quality opponents across the men’s and women’s games.

“We are thrilled to be opening the Men’s Test summer against India, who will be a formidable opposition, in what is sure to be a hard-fought series against Australia. We cannot wait to see the fans flock to Perth Stadium across all five days, while the ODI against Pakistan promises to be a high-quality contest.

“Similarly, we are proud to welcome back the Australian Women’s Team for the first ODI at the WACA Ground in nearly five years, we cannot wait to showcase the progress made at the venue as part of the WACA Ground Improvement Project.

“We thank Cricket Australia for rewarding Western Australian cricket fans with an excellent international schedule and we look forward to welcoming all the teams to Perth as part of an exciting summer.
