Australian Coach Coaches the Coaches
21/12/2005

Australian Coach John Buchanan found time in his busy schedule prior to the First 3 mobile Test match against South Africa to conduct a Coaching up skill / in-service for WA's Junior and Senior District Club Coaches.

Held at the WACA on Wednesday 14th December, Buchanan spoke in depth about the vision that he and the Australian cricket team have in preparation for the 2007 World Cup and the role that he felt WA Coaches have at grass roots / district club levels to ensure that Australian players and coaches continue to raise the bar in terms of game awareness and skill levels.

He challenged coaches to develop and produce players that can use both sides of their bodies while batting, bowling and especially fielding. He also mentioned the importance of players being accountable for their decisions and challenged coaches to continually give more ownership to the players for their development.

Overall, coaches that were in attendance would feel a part of the player development pathway that continues to dominate the world of cricket and challenged to experiment and enjoy their coaching.
