The summer of 2013-14 promises to be one of the best in recent memory when England arrive for a keenly-anticipated Commonwealth Bank Ashes Series. The WACA is set to play host to the Third Test of the series against the English, who won 2-1 on their last Australian tour in 2010-11. However, it must be remembered England's only loss of that series occurred at the WACA Ground, with Australia prevailing by 267 runs.
The WACA Ground will also play host to the fourth One Day International in the ODI Series between Australia and England ahead of the Australia Day weekend, Friday 24 January.
On the domestic front, the Perth Scorchers will be aiming to go one better for the second successive year when they battle for Australian T20 supremacy in the T20 Big Bash League. The Scorchers were the hottest ticket in town last summer, storming to the final of the competition, and the men in orange will be out to thrill audiences at The Furnace once again this summer.
The Western Warriors fell just short of qualifying for the Bupa Sheffield Shield and RYOBI Cup finals in 2012-13 and will attack the new season with renewed optimism under Justin Langer, while the Western Fury is aiming to continue the progress they made in last season under coach Stephen Jenkin, having made the finals of the WNCL competition for the first time in 13 years in 2012-13 and the WT20 Grand Final for the first time ever.
