Cricket in Western Australia has experienced significant growth across the past three seasons, with the sport challenging the AFL as the #1 participation sports in the State.
One of the key growth drivers has been the focus on the variety of entry level and junior participation programs, as well as the increase of cricket’s presence in schools through the work of the WACA’s Game Development team, School Ambassadors and volunteers.
The WACA’s ambition is to ensure every child in WA has the opportunity to play cricket, whether this be in school, socially in the community or as part of a structured program.
However, due to the lack of year round resources, support systems, infrastructure and distance across the major towns and remote communities, children in the Pilbara and Kimberley are unable to enjoy the same access to the sport of cricket.
With the support of our Members and supporters of cricket across the State, we can make a difference.
Over the next three years, through donations for the Northwest Cricket Foundation, the WACA will increase the reach of entry level and junior cricket in the Pilbara and Kimberley with the aim to:
Through the program, the WACA will be able to provide the resources for teachers to embrace cricket as part of the school curriculum, up skill coaches and administrators, establish more T20 Blast and in2CRICKET centres as well as the creation of community and intra school carnivals.
