Western Fury recruit Suzie Bates has scored an unbeaten
century to guide New Zealand to an eight-wicket victory over Australia in their Rose Bowl one-day international in Sydney on Wednesday.
Bates, who joined the Fury at the start of the 2012-13 WNCL
season, scored 122 off 131 deliveries as the Silver Ferns chased down
Australia's score of 248.
Bates' outstanding knock included 16 fours and one six, while
she received good support from Amy Satterthwaite (98 off 95).
The form of the New Zealand skipper will please Fury coach
Stephen Jenkin, as she will return to the side for their final round fixtures
against ACT Comets in early January and potentially any finals, should the team qualify.
Bates has been unavailable for the Fury's past two rounds due to commitments with her New Zealand domestic club Otago Sparks.
