Junior Cricket Recognises Season Contributions

About 250 people were in on-hand last month to acknowledge key volunteers, school ambassadors, players and clubs at the Community Junior Cricket Council’s awards night at the WACA Ground.

WACA CEO Ms Christina Matthews and Alcohol.Think Again Western Warriors batsman Michael Klinger were special guests at the 15 March event in recognition of community junior cricket.

Wembley Districts Junior Cricket Club won the prestigious Len Pavy Club of the Year award, which was announced by CJCC Deputy Chair Jamie Chappell and presented by Ms Matthews.

Phoenix Beeliar Junior Cricket Club and Warwick Greenwood Junior Cricket Club won the Spirit of Cricket Awards for south and north respectively.

Eastern Hills Junior Cricket club were the winners of the CJCC Growing Cricket for Girls award, recognising the growing importance of clubs being able to provide opportunities for girls to join clubs and play cricket in all girls competitions.

Riverton Rossmoyne Junior Cricket Club coach Dean Pearson won the Coach of the Year award and Jeff Hogg of the Bateman Junior Cricket Club won Female Team Coach of the Year.

Aleisha Cotton of Caralee Community School collected the School Ambassador of the Year award.

Thornlie Junior Cricket Club’s, Jo Ryan-Smith, claimed the MILO T20 Blast Club Coordinator of the Year and Quinns Rock Junior Cricket Club’s, Stewart O’Connor won the MILO in2CRICKET Coordinator of the Year award.

Junior players who have played right through from the Under-10s to Under-17s were also recognised with the CJCC Chairman’s Medal.
