He is the first Australian men's Test debutant since WA team mate Jhye Richardson 693 days ago, the longest gap between debutants in 50 years.

The 21-year-old suffered a mild concussion last Friday but batted in the nets on Tuesday and Wednesday, and has ticked every box required under Cricket Australia's concussion protocols.

"Cam Green will make his Test debut," captain Tim Paine said in his pre-match press conference.

"Which is great news for him, great news for us and great news for Australian cricket fans."
