Established to bring together the six metropolitan Junior Cricket Associations and provide a T20 playing option in the older age groups, the eighth season of the competition was played in terrific spirit on Friday 9 April.

East Fremantle Junior Cricket Club, representing the South West Metropolitan Junior Cricket Council, batted first in the under 15s Final. Alex Jones (24 not out) and Cohen Cook (22 not out) led the scoring in a team total of 9-140.

Matthew Carroll (3-15) spearheaded the Kingsley-Woodvale Maroon bowling. He was supported by six other Maroon members who took one wicket each to demonstrate the team’s bowling depth.

Kingsley-Woodvale were comfortable from the first ball of their innings with the first wicket falling at 84. Tyler Brown (28*) and Riley Gillespie (23*) led the successful run chase which saw Kingsley-Woodvale reach the 141-run target with only four wickets down to claim the 2020-21 under 15s Community Cup.

Lachlan Coates (2-2) was the best with the ball for East Fremantle

Jandakot Lakes began their under 17s Community Cup Final performance strongly with the bat with Luke Holt (31) and Isaac Roberts (32 not out) forming the backbone of the team’s innings.

Efforts from Secret Harbour’s Noah Blight (3-23) and Evan Morgan helped stem the batting team’s momentum to finish on 9-145 at the end of their allotted 20 overs.

Jandakot Lakes came our firing with the ball, which had Secret Harbour on the back foot at 2-2 and their run chase never really gained momentum despite the efforts of Mitchell Oliver (37*) and Jordan Pink (22).

Tristan Ricetti’s early wickets (2-7) with another five Jandakot Lakes bowlers taking a wicket ensured the Secret Harbour chase was out of reach.

WACA Community Cricket General Manager Jo Davies said;

“The 2020-21 Under 15s and Under 17s Community Cup Finals provides a fantastic opportunity for all Junior Cricket Associations based in the Perth metro area to come together and celebrate the experience and sportsmanship of junior community cricket.

“Congratulations to both our Community Cup winners Kingsley-Woodvale Junior Cricket Club and Jandakot Lakes Junior Cricket Club.”
