The 32-year-old was clearing trees on his recently purchased family block when in a freak accident, a log swung back and hit him, causing him to fall back-first, landing on his neck.

Don is now in ICU with a shattered C4 vertebrae and severe damage to his spinal cord and it looking at a six to 12 month recovery.

Kalamunda Cricket Club and Lesmurdie-Mazenod Cricket Club have come together to show their support for Don and his family this weekend.

The day will include bouncy castles, a petting zoo along with other activities for the kids, a car show and raffles throughout the day before the cricket action starts at 5.00pm.

The event will conclude with an auction with a number of fantastic prizes being donated.

Kalamunda Cricket Club President Kent Millington said this is a great opportunity to support Don and his family.

“We are privileged to have the ability to come together as two sporting organisations in the Hills to show what ‘community’ means and to spread the net far and wide in a show of support for one of our own,” Millington said.
