The Belt Up message is extremely important especially over the long weekend, with the Belt Up round hoping to raise awareness of the importance of wearing a seat belt on WA Roads.

Commission Secretary at the Insurance Commission Kane Blackman said the annual Belt Up Round is the centrepiece of their partnership with the Western Australian Cricket Association to promote the seat belt safety campaign.

“The Belt Up message is simple. Seat belts save lives. But, tragically, every year people are needlessly killed or seriously injured on WA roads because they weren’t belted up,” Blakeman said.

“The fact is you’re 10 times more likely to be killed in a car crash if you’re not wearing a seat belt.

“Through the Premier Cricket Belt Up Round and our community cricket initiatives, including funding for helmets and independence-enabling equipment, we are able to share this important road safety message across the entire cricket community in WA.

“We’re delighted to be working with the WACA and look forward to the inaugural Premier Cricket Belt Up Round this weekend.
