The 2017 version has been optimised for Instagram, with 10 of the key pages from the 1970-71 Second Test “Souvenir Programme” from the Australia-England (MCC) Test of that year – which sold for 25c – being converted to reflect this week’s Third Magellan Ashes Test.
The digital version retained the nostalgic pallet of the original, while adding its modern twist and also having to adapt to the medium of delivery.
A series of three feature stories were retained, employing the same headlines that were used 46 years ago, but were converted to 1min videos and voiced with subtitles due to the restrictions of mobile screen-size.
The optimisation for Instagram limited the digital program to 10 “pages”, or content pieces, which are: Cover; Contents; Message from the CEO; Ground Map; “A Place in the Test Scene”; Australian Squad; England Squad; “They Were the Greatest”; Statistics; “The WACA … Ground With History”.
Head to the WACA’s Instagram to view the optimised version of the digital program.
