WA won the toss and elected to bat, but was in trouble after losing three early wickets and sitting 3-15, before Mathilda Carmichael and Chloe Piparo led a recovery mission.

Carmichael finished just short of a century on 96 from 139 balls, while Piparo scored 88 runs off 113 to help WA build to a defendable 237.

ACT responded strongly through Erin Osborne (52 off 83) and charged to 5-175, but Kate Cross (3-22) and Emma King (2-38) took five wickets between them to halt the visitors’ run.

The Meteors were facing a run-a-ball equation with about 30 runs required, before four quick wickets late in the day led the hosts home, bowling ACT out for 214 in 47.5 overs.

WA moved to second on the WNCL ladder, but the Fury’s season will be put on hold for the Rebel Women’s Big Bash League, with 50-over cricket resuming in February.
