Mr Hussey’s role will be to build the profile of the philanthropic arm of the Western Australian Cricket Association and its efforts to use cricket as the vehicle for positive social impact outcomes across the State.

The former Australian batsman and vice-captain of the Western Australian Men’s Team understands the role cricket can play in inspiring and connecting people and building healthy and inclusive communities.

His passion to ensure the ongoing success of the game in WA and his affinity to the WACA Ground and its ongoing role as the “Home of Cricket in WA” make him a welcome addition to the WA Cricket Foundation.

“It’s great to be back involved at the WACA. I’ve wanted to find a way to give back for some time now and the WA Cricket Foundation is the perfect way to raise awareness and money for grassroots programs and ensure a bright future for the WACA Ground,” Mr Hussey said.

“WA Cricket gave me all my opportunities, I started playing Kanga Cricket back in the day and came up through all the pathway programs so the WACA gave me every opportunity to achieve my dreams.

“The Foundation will give the same opportunity to everyone in WA who wants to get involved in cricket, whether that is just getting out there to have fun and be social or the future stars for Australia.”

Mr Hussey will complement the existing WACF Board Members; Chair Dr Bob Every AO, the Hon. Dr Ken Michael AC, Mr John Nolan, Ms Kate O’Hara, Mr David Robb, Mrs Meredith McClements, Mr John Gardner and Mr John Goodlad who will continue to seek support for programs that enrich, support and inspire our State.
