The coffee book, named after the unique and characteristic Fremantle Doctor sea breeze that sweeps through the WACA Ground, The Doctor's In reflects on some of the world-famous venue’s most historic and significant moments.
Casellas, who held the position of Chief Cricket Writer at The West Australian for nearly 30 years, said it was a pleasure to work on a project that appropriately celebrated the WACA Ground’s history, as the stadium prepared to host its final Ashes Test.
“The pictorial essay delves into a feast of memorable matches, spells, innings, incidents and characters that have made the WACA Ground such a special venue to the game of cricket,” Casellas said.
“From the first visit of the MCC in 1907, to the Perth Scorchers WBBL and BBL Finals at the Ground in 2017, the book documents 48 stories and over 120 images curated within five chapters – Occasions, With Ball, With Bat, Theatre and Triumphs.
“Featured memorable moments include Bradman, Chappell, Lillee, Walters, Fredericks, Hughes, Tendulkar, Ambrose, McGrath, Hayden, Gilchrist, Johnson and many more.”
A specially designed pop-up activation will also be unveiled for the Third Magellan Ashes Test, which begins Thursday 14 December, immersing visitors in the moments featured in the book through an engaging exhibition.
