Mr Watson started his career playing for Fremantle, before making his debut for Western Australia in season 1957-58.

He was the 197th State player and 51st Sheffield Shield representative, playing his first match at the WACA Ground against New South Wales on December 13, 1957.

The wicketkeeper-batsman played seven matches for WA and made 115 runs and took 23 catches over his two seasons with the side.

The First-Class cricketer was also a very talented baseball player who had an outstanding 1957 Claxton Shield series, which saw him selected in the All-Australian side.

Mr Watson passed way peacefully on 10 April 2020. He was 86.
