Despite arriving at the crease in the 33rd over, Stoinis turned on the afterburners to reach his ton with a six off the last ball of the innings to reach 101 off just 58 balls and take WA to 8-386.

The run-scoring tone was set from the start, after captain Ashton Turner won the toss and elected to bat, WA opener Josh Philippe then cracked a four from the first ball of the innings.

Philippe went on to make 61 from 43 balls, while Turner also found his rhythm with 52 off 49.

There was joy for Cameron Bancroft in his return following the recent Ashes series, he posted a confident 78 from 75 deliveries.

In reply, Victoria went hard from the outset, with Aaron Finch taking 17 off the opening over, before Jhye Richardson got his revenge removing him for 33 off 16 balls.

The only response for the Vics came from Glenn Maxwell who made a quick fire 51 and Nic Maddinson's steady 87.

Ashton Agar was the pick of the WA bowlers with figures of 3-54, Nathan Coulter-Nile and Andrew Tye both claimed two wickets each as Victoria were eventually all out for 261.
