After losing a vital toss and being asked to field first at Sydney’s Bankstown Oval, WA made a strong start to have NSW 3-50.

However, a game-defining 118-run stand between Jack Edwards (108) and Daniel Hughes (58) steadied the innings with the home side eventually posting 251 from their 50 overs.

Quick Jason Behrendorff (3-46) was the pick of the WA bowlers, while Mitch Marsh (2-34) was tidy over the course of his nine overs.

In response, WA were on the back foot early and never really threatened during the run chase.

There were plenty of starts from a power-packed WA batting unit, but the visitors struggled to build a meaningful partnership to set up the game.

Allrounder Cameron Green (36) top scored in the chase, while Josh Inglis (29) looked in good touch before he fell to Shaun Abbott in the 31st over.

The loss brings an end to WA’s season, with the team to fly home tomorrow morning.
