At stumps on day three, WA were 4-39 in their second dig, still 40 runs behind the hosts.

Earlier Queensland were bowled out for 411 with a first innings lead of 79 runs.

The Bulls resumed their first innings on Monday at 1-167 and Usman Khawaja added just two runs to his overnight total before being caught behind off the bowling of all-rounder Marcus Stoinis (3-50).

Marnus Labuschagne (0) was then trapped in front by Stoinis and the visitors suddenly had their tails up as the hosts were 3-173.

Queensland then steadied, Hilton Cartwright claimed figures of 3-61 while Cameron Bancroft snared a rare first class wicket when he removed Jack Wildermuth (80.)

WA were bowled out for 332 on Sunday, recovering from 2-2 thanks to Marsh's fighting half century and a wagging tail that added 162 for the final three wickets led by all-rounder Cameron Green (87 not out).

Cartwright (11*) and night watchman Matt Kelly (0) are the overnight batsmen and play will begin from 8:00am AWST tomorrow.
