The Spirit of Cricket Award is presented each season to the interstate men’s and women’s teams who have played in the best spirit and with the greatest respect for the game.

The umpires cast votes for each team following every match by considering several factors including respect for opponents, respect for umpires and respect for the game. Winners are determined at the end of the season and given the Richie Benaud Spirit of Cricket Award.

The award is to be shared with Queensland after voting ended in a two-way tie on 57 points.

WA Skipper Chloe Piparo said;

“It hasn’t necessarily been the season we had hoped for, but nonetheless we’ve stuck together as a team, supported one another and the expectation of everyone involved in our program has remained consistent and that is being good people on and off the field.

“Winning this award is a credit to the attitudes of the team and staff, both on and off the field and it speaks volumes of the culture we’re striving to build.”
