The WA Women’s team open their campaign at home on Friday 15 January with a day-night fixture at the WACA Ground, as they look to retain the Ruth Preddy Cup after claiming their first title last season with a 42-run victory over New South Wales.
WA will be looking to defend the title with experienced Victorian leg-spinner Alana King joining the side bolstering an already formidable bowling attack made up of last season’s WNCL Player of the Year Nicole Bolton and the State’s leading wicket taker Emma King.
Port Hedland fast bowler Zoe Britcliffe and Mandurah’s Georgia Wyllie will be hoping to have an impact in the WNCL, following strong performances in the WACA Female High-Performance program last season.
WA Women’s head coach Becky Grundy said;
"The recent success of winning the 2019-20 WNCL title will remain an unforgettable experience for all involved, one that we will collectively work hard to experience again this summer.
“Last season’s performance provides the group with great confidence and a strong foundation to build on, as we work towards delivering more consistent performances to give ourselves a real chance to be in a position to defend the title.
“It is fantastic that we have a schedule locked in that sees us begin our campaign at home in just over a month.”
The WACA Ground will play host to four matches over the eight-round competition.
The Final will be held on Saturday 27 March at the home venue of the highest ranked team and will be live streamed on cricket.com.au.
