The fixture change will see WA begin their 2020-21 WNCL campaign on Wednesday 27 January against Queensland at Brisbane’s Allan Border Field.
WA’s home-town matches against the ACT and South Australia originally scheduled for this month will now to be played on February 28 and March 3 respectively.
These changes to the WNCL schedule have been made due to the ongoing public health situation and relevant state border closures. Cricket Australia will continue to monitor the situation and any impacts this may have on the remainder of the WNCL schedule.
The Final remains scheduled for Saturday 27 March at the home venue of the highest ranked team and will be live streamed on cricket.com.au.
The WA Women’s team will be looking to retain the Ruth Preddy Cup after claiming their first WNCL title last season with a 42-run victory over New South Wales.
WA head coach Becky Grundy said;
“The changes to the fixture will give us the best possible chance to play out a full WNCL season and we understand we need to remain flexible as we navigate through the challenges of scheduling cricket during the pandemic.
“We are all really looking forward to having cricket back at the WACA Ground next month and playing in front of our Members and fans.”
