WA broke a 24-year WNCL hoodoo last season when the women from the West captured the Ruth Preddy Cup for the first time since its inception.

It was the first time the WA Women had won a trophy since the 1986-87 season, when the competition was played under a different format.

The defending champions will begin their campaign on the apple isle, with back-to-back fixtures against the undefeated Tigers.

Nicole Bolton swept all before her last season on her way to Player of the Tournament honours.

Through nine matches lethal lefthander struck a competition-high 436 runs at 48.44, 71 runs clear of next-best Chloe Piparo (365).

She was just as ruthless with the ball; her 16 scalps at 19.43 apiece trailed only Rene Farrell (21) and teammate Emma King (18).
