Josh Philippe comes from a strong cricketing family, his mother Leanne opened the batting for Western Australia in 1986-87 while his father Steve played for the WA XI in 1987 and coached the WA women’s side for five seasons from 2006-2011.
The 21 year-old was named as the Perth Scorchers’ BBL 07 Development Rookie and elevated to the playing squad in the Scorchers first game of the KFC Big Bash against the Sydney Sixers last summer. Philippe burst onto the international stage following a brilliant knock of 92 from 88 balls, which included 16 boundaries, during a tour match against the world-class bowling attack of England’s James Anderson and Stuart Broad.
The talented youngster has been rewarded with a state contract for the 2018-19 season.
