Promising wicketkeeper-batsman Whiteman is another of the young WA players who has emerged in recent years. Whiteman played 16 games in both competitions, amassing 669 runs and five half-centuries, before finishing third in the Laurie Sawle medal count in 2012-13. Whiteman, originally from Bunbury, backed up with a strong 2013-14 season where he was named in the JLT Sheffield Shield Team of the Year, scoring 687 runs and taking 44 catches. Whiteman earned Australia A selection and made 174 in a 371-run stand with Mitch Marsh, before posting his maiden WA century against Queensland in March 2015. Whiteman’s 2017/18 domestic season was largely tapered by a finger injury that saw him only play a handful of BBL games.
