Volunteers are integral to the fabric of cricket in Western Australia. Without the dedication, commitment and passion of the thousands of volunteers who give up their time each year, community cricket would not exist.

To recognise and celebrate the efforts of volunteers, WA Cricket hosts the WA Community Cricket Awards.

2023-24 Awards have been refreshed with:

  • Introduction of a new category
  • Renaming of the Advancing Cricket for Females Award
  • Updated Nomination Criteria
  • Update to some category descriptions
  • The removal of some questions from club categories to ease the amount of time taken to complete nominations
  • Tips on how to write an effective nomination
  • The ability to review questions before starting your nomination.

Nomination criteria

To be eligible the nominee must volunteer at, or be, a WA Cricket affiliated community cricket club or association in Western Australia.

Nominations are for voluntary work and programs during the current cricket season. Past achievements and ongoing contribution to community cricket will be viewed favourably.

The nominee must be performing the role they undertake in a voluntary capacity, which may include an honorarium, within the nomination period.

All nominees must act in the Spirit of Cricket, do what is best for volunteers and players, be respectful to all in the cricket community, and not bring the game into disrepute.

Nominators must include two referees per nomination and inform each referee. Referees cannot be a relative of the nominee. For individual awards, one referee should be the club or association president or a management committee member if the president is unavailable, is a relative of the nominee, or is the nominee.

Club information not collected as part of the nomination process will also be considered during the evaluation and judging process, including but not limited to:

  • The total number of coaches and their accreditation;
  • If the club has adopted Australian Cricket's Policy for Safeguarding Children and Young People, signed the Commitment Statement, and appointed a Child Safety Officer;
  • If the club is a Good Sports club, and to what level.

You may nominate the same individual/organisation for multiple categories however you must complete a separate nomination for each category.

All finalists are encouraged to attend the Community Cricket Awards presentation on an evening in March.

All nominees will be considered for Volunteer of the Month and Match, irrespective of previous recognition and awards.
